Balances sub-ledgers to the GL line by line and hands back a clean exception list instead of a spreadsheet nobody wants to open.

    Reconciles daily, not monthly

    Sub-ledger to GL, bank to cash, intercompany to intercompany, matched line by line every day. A break found on the day it happens is a five-minute question to someone who still remembers. The same break found at close is an investigation.

    Matches on substance, not just reference

    Exact reference matches are the easy half. Tally also matches on amount-and-date proximity, partial settlements against one invoice, and payments that arrived netted across several, the cases that normally get manually unpicked.

    Ages every break

    Each unmatched item carries its age, its size and its history. A three-day-old break is noise; the same break at forty days is a control problem, and it is reported as one.

    Drafts the variance commentary

    Movement against prior period and against budget, with a written explanation drawn from the underlying transactions. The controller edits a draft instead of starting from a blank cell.

  5. 05

    Proposes accruals with their support

    Where goods are received and not invoiced, or a service period straddles the cut-off, Tally proposes the accrual and attaches the documents it based it on. The support is in the proposal, not requested afterwards.

Where Tally stops. Tally proposes journals. It does not post them. Every entry that touches the GL is approved by a person first.
